Experience

Ezer Espares has over 25 years of experience in semiconductor packaging, surface mount technology, testing, and equipment support, including installations and customer support. Ezer was originally a representative for MRSI Systems in the Philippines and joined MRSI in the US 20 years ago. His extensive semiconductor experience includes die attach and epoxy dispensing.

Ezer is primarily focused on the equipment side ranging from installation to support. His recent experience includes die bonders, pick and place, epoxy dispense, reflow ovens, and tape and reel. He employs extensive testing methods such as simulating usage of parts on machines with the testing functionality of assembler IC and different temperature profiles. The most common daily activities involve semiconductors, packaging, and testing.

Problem Solving

Ezer was educated as a maintenance and process engineer, with goals to improve processes with high quality and yield. Recently, he has used methods of statistical process control, failure mode effect analysis, and designing experiments. As he designs experiments he then sets parameters such as temperature, dwell time, and force to determine the optimal parameters.

Ezer finds his experience leads him to be ideally suited to customer support, specifically with die attach and epoxy dispensing. He thinks from the customer’s perspective and understands the importance of maintaining optimal system performance. He works with customers as a team and builds relationships to help ensure cooperation to reach the optimal outcomes for them. Ezer is great at answering questions and finding appropriate resources if he is unable to solve the problem. He is continuously challenged by the great working environment as part of the Customer Support Team, which fosters learning and accountability.

In the last few years, he has concentrated on optical components, such as VCSELs and PD (photo diodes), which emit and detect light. These optical components are important for fiber and optical data communication because the data transmission needs to be fast.
