Mycronic launches a new mask writer for the multi-purpose market
Täby, 18 April, 2018 – Mycronic AB (publ) launches the new FPS8100 to meet the increasing demand on photomasks for fine metal mask manufacturing, which are used in the deposition process of the organic material when producing OLED displays.
Mycronic offers mask writers for the manufacturing of photomasks within different fields of application. These areas are display manufacturing (for TV, smart phones and tablets among other things) and applications within the multi-purpose market, a broad segment comprising many different application areas.
The FPS8100 can be used for a wide range of multi-purpose applications and is built on a new modern platform where several new technologies are introduced to enhance performance, stability and writing speed. The system is configured with two optical levels and covers a writing area up to
1,400mm x 1,620mm. This enables efficient production of photomasks for fine metal mask manufacturing which can be used for deposition of the organic material in AMOLED displays up to display generation size 6.
“The FPS8100 will provide our customers with a very cost efficient production of photomasks for fine metal mask manufacturing. We received two orders during the second half of 2017 for customized FPS systems targeting this market and we now launch an official product to address this growing segment”, says Charlott Samuelsson, Sr VP Pattern Generators at Mycronic AB.
The multi-purpose market is a good complement to Mycronic’s mask writers for advanced displays. The price level for an FPS8100 is between USD 5-7 million, depending on configuration, compared to USD 2-5 million for an FPS6100.
